Flanders
The Flemish Region is a regional authority in the Northern part of Belgium. Flanders has 6.8 million inhabitants (58% of the Belgian population)
As coordinator of the award-winning DUET project (2019-2022), Flanders was one of the founders of the Local Digital Twin concept with its Digital Twin prototype simulating cross-policy domain decisions. Flanders has signed the Living-in.eu declaration and is also the member state representative for the EDIC “Networked local digital twins towards the CitiVerse” and one of the current main contributors to the pre- standardisation roadmap towards the CitiVerse.
In the x-CITE project the Flemish Region will be responsible for the demonstration of how CitiVerse solutions can effectively address real-world problems and opportunities. The Flanders pilot will be an immersive Local Digital Twin solution to support the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and the public participation.
