Nokia Corporation is a global technology leader across mobile, fixed and cloud networks. Its solutions enable a more productive, sustainable and inclusive world. XR and metaverse are key new business and research and technology development areas for Nokia (incl. 5G/6G system support, multimedia technologies, positioning and mapping, real-time digital twinning). Engaging collaborative XR experiences for metaverse use case applications (such as CitiVerse solutions) require improving immersive video communication solutions from compression to transmission and rendering. Nokia’s standardisation research and expertise will help the exploration of public use case opportunities in metaverse. 
In the x-CITE project, Nokia brings valuable technology expertise and a leading industry perspective to the CitiVerse development towards public sector use cases in the urban context. Nokia’s pilot builds on the digital twins of Nokia Arena and explores the digital twin of live arena experience in XR. The pilot tests and showcases the potential of combining event experiences with XR technologies in public spaces and in Nokia Arena.
