The Vlaanderen pilot will use CitiVerse to translate complex environmental reports into easy-to-understand 3D visualizations. This allows citizens to explore the real impact of planning decisions on their surroundings, fostering greater transparency and community participation in sustainable urban development.
Leen’s story: Seeing and Shaping Future Plans for Her Neighbourhood
“Leen, a busy mother of two kids in Flanders, was overwhelmed by the complexity of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports. Understanding the impact of different urban planning scenarios on traffic, air quality, and noise pollution seemed impossible. With the CitiVerse, she could experience the scenarios visually, simulating how each development plan would affect her neighbourhood. This transformed her from a worried outsider to an informed participant. For the first time, she could quickly understand the impact of different future scenarios and easily express her wishes and concerns about them. She now feels heard, empowered, and actively involved in building her future city.“
