Who has the most valuable expertise when it comes to building a digital twin of a real neighbourhood? A digital version of the city, where you can walk around in a 3D environment and easily connect with other residents, government institutions and businesses. That is the vision of the European x-CITE project, in which various cities in Europe are collaborating. Government, business and citizens are involved in its development from the outset.
Brenda van Breemen, Innovation Project Manager at the Municipality of Rotterdam, is investigating the role of government in a society where the social, digital and physical worlds are merging. Her core message is clear: ‘The most valuable expertise within this project comes from the residents themselves.
