During the x-CITE project, Tampere will implement five pilots centred around digital cultural experiences. The work has progressed as planned, and we are soon ready to move from implementation to testing.
The first pilot to be tested is Public Art on the Map. In this pilot, city residents and visitors can explore the history of Tampere’s iconic public artworks through a map-based platform. Public Art on the Map is not an independent application, but a part of the Tampere.Finland application, which can be downloaded for free from both Google and Apple app stores.
In Public Art on the Map, the users can select artworks (e.g. statues, memorials, reliefs) from the screen of their mobile device and optionally navigate to them. The users can study different types of information related to each piece of art, including basic information such as the name of artist, manufacturing year, manufacturing material and address, as well as background information about the artwork and its artist. Photos of every artwork – and in selected cases videos, audio recordings and 3D models – are also included.
Stay tuned! In the coming months, we will publish more stories on the progress of Tampere use cases on our website and LinkedIn page.
