x-CITE presented at Living-in.EU event on the four EU CitiVerse projects

On 24 February 2026, the Living-in.EU initiative hosted the online event “The four EU CitiVerse projects: Overview and latest developments.” The session brought together the four EU-funded CitiVerse projects developing applications for the European CitiVerse—x-CITE, SENSE, CU (European CitiVerses Uniting for Inclusiveness) and 3DxVERSE—to share their first results and discuss progress after the first year of work.

During the webinar, representatives of the projects presented their visions, pilot activities and collaboration opportunities. The event highlighted how these initiatives are working together to build immersive, human-centric digital environments for cities across Europe.

x-CITE progress and ambitions

The x-CITE project was represented by Sebastian Valkama and Jurgen Silence, who presented the project’s objectives and latest developments and the Flanders pilot. Their presentations provided an overview of how x-CITE is contributing to the emerging CitiVerse ecosystem by exploring immersive digital technologies and collaborative tools that support citizen engagement and urban innovation. They also shared updates on the project’s ongoing activities and pilots, illustrating how cities and partners are working together to co-create new CitiVerse experiences and services. Their presentations emphasised the importance of interoperability, co-creation and collaboration across European initiatives to ensure that future virtual urban environments remain open, inclusive and aligned with European values.

Strengthening collaboration across CitiVerse projects

The joint Living-in.EU session offered participants an opportunity to learn how the four projects complement each other and how their results will contribute to the broader European effort to develop interoperable digital twins and virtual worlds for cities. By exchanging insights and experiences, the projects aim to accelerate innovation and build a shared foundation for the European CitiVerse.
